Ice fishing by the fjord
Every winter, the great fjord freezes over. Then it’s time for one of the locals’ favorite winter activities – ice fishing. We drive from the harbor out onto the ice to the fishing spot. Most of the time the weather will be calm, but it’s cold, so it’s important to wear proper outerwear.
On today’s ice fishing trip, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the cold and clear polar air. Although the fjord is primarily a lifeline for sailors in the summer, it also plays an important role in the winter. Here it provides a solid base for snowmobiles and sledges.
On the trip, we bring an ice drill so we can drill down through the thick fjord ice. Then it’s time to get your line and hook out and start the ice fishing. There will typically be plenty of fish, especially fjord cod and common cod, taking the bait. While we wait for the catch of the day, we will offer you a hot drink and entertaining fish stories.
